Mel Barsky is a Partner at CABHI Ventures & Director at the Centre for Aging + Brain Health Innovation (CABHI). CABHI, led by Baycrest Health Sciences, helps innovators develop, disseminate, scale, and promote adoption of promising innovations in the aging and brain health sector. Our Vision is to create a world where every older person lives with purpose, fulfillment & dignity. CABHI has funded over $200M and has levered over $150M+ for investing in the brain health and longevity sector. To-date, CABHI has funded over 550 projects. CABHI innovators and companies have secured over $600M in follow-on investments. Currently, CABHI is the most active AgeTech investor in North America.
Baycrest is one of most experienced and accomplished senior care providers in the world having served older persons and their families for over 108 years. Baycrest is also home to the The Rotman Research Institute – a preeminent international centre for the study of aging and human brain function.
Prior to CABHI, Mel was Co-Founder, President & COO of healthtech company INTERVENT Canada. INTERVENT has served over 2.5 million patients globally; over 200 corporations; and has been published in more than 100 peer reviewed major medical journals demonstrating the efficacy of its programs and improvement in health outcomes.
Previously, Mel was a Founding Partner and Executive Director of Scotiabank Private Equity Investments, where he invested in the financial services and information technology sectors.
Mel is a volunteer Director at DANI (Developing And Nurturing Independence), an organization that empowers adults with developmental disabilities to grow and thrive through personal development, community integration, and a focus on individual strengths.
Mel lives in Toronto with his wife, 5 kids, 2 grandkids & a labradoodle.
